ISSUE 13
In the five years and twelve issues since its birth Flushed
has presented dozens of stories, poems and expressed opinions;
displayed paintings, drawings and photos, all giving voice and
vision to the thoughts, struggles and dreams of the people connected
in some way to Sheena's
Place.
This issue brings to a close publication in the present format.
It's very important to us to maintain the elements that
made Flushed unique: a safe venue for expressing opinions and
telling stories, a vehicle for sharing information and a special
place for people outside Toronto (around the world for that matter)
to find a haven of like-minded people and to feel less alone.
We would like to be able to do this in a more timely way than
our current 3 times a year. Watch the Sheena's
Place website
for developments and send us your ideas and suggestions.
Here's what's in number 13:
Surprisingly we didn't have any
fiction submissions... look at the archives,
there's some good stuff there.
Literary
non- fiction: Lots in this section... advice
for parents on how to deal with the pro-eating disorders
websites, a perceptive look at a book on obesity, another
about the Montreux Clinic. And a great piece for Dad based
on Margo Maine's book Father Hunger.
Poetry: Our
poets, as usual, provoke us with their visions and their language.
Reviews: Some interesting opinions, eloquently expressed.
Links: The internet offers a cornucopia of information, we
check sites before posting.
Gallery: A piece from the talented Patricia Ki , who's
appeared in previous issues, a piece of fruit to brighten your
day and an accompaniment for the poem Hangnails.
That' s our swan song... thanks to you all, contributors
who made Flushed such a vibrant and beautiful production, members
of the editorial collective past and present, and last but far
from least, you dear readers wherever you may be. Keep in touch
with us and guide us towards our new website presence.
