a website promoting healthy body attitudes and acceptance. It has
a good number of links and resources, with useful self-help techniques
such as meditation, as well as strategies for proper eating and
enjoyment of meals, introspection, etc.
Naafa.org , the National
Association to Advance Fat Acceptance is a non-profit human rights
organization dedicated to improving the quality of life for fat
people. NAAFA works to eliminate discrimination based on body size
and provide fat people with the tools for self-empowerment through
public education, advocacy, and member support.
Edap.org, the
National Eating Disorders Association offers a referral list
as a resource for treatment, support groups, or research studies
in North America and across the world. It is the largest non-profit
organization of its kind in the United States . They develop
prevention programs for a wide range of audiences, publish and
distribute educational materials as well as operate the toll-free
information and referral helpline.
Bigfatblog.com is
a community of just under 1,200 individuals who are interested
in advancing fat acceptance. It provides a supportive environment
for those interested in issues related to fat people.
www.poundy.com is
the blog of a woman in Chicago who is a writer, author of "Candyboots" and
other auto-biographical accounts that describe a life of diets
vs eventual self-acceptance. The website is useful not so much
as a blog, but for its links. The book looks like a fun and inspirational
read.
