4. On Grocery Shopping
by Margaret Fieland

I really can't think what to do;
my mind is really empty.
But every day I find new foods
that really seem to tempt me.

I go into the grocery store
determined not to buy them,
but for some reason I find I
do really want to try them.

I try to shop at times I know
that food won't really tempt me
but every time I'm in there when
my stomach's really empty.

So maybe I should pick a time
to shop when I've just eaten
and maybe I would find that I
could have temptation beaten.

And I could exit from the store
and know that I'd be buying
only those foods that my food plan
says that I should be trying.
