6. The Spice of Life

How many scorched and weary travelers
have you revived
Promising delights undreamed of in their
highrise hills,
Offering tastes to make their palates
and their hearts rejoice.
The parched and cracking soil from
which you spring
Belies the richness of your substance
and your soul.
Oh cardomen, oh coriander, oh cumin
Your very soundsmell makes my
spirit reel again.
