5. Prisoner
by Leslie Jennings

A prisoner of my outer shell
Defined in minds that fear to dwell
In places that defy the norm
Despising those who can't conform
Beneath the surface, wrecked with shame
Hateful hearts cast the blame
Censure will be my reward
To be distinctive must be abhorred
In this world I have no place
My figure is a BIG disgrace
Judged and mocked in stranger's sighs
Loathing seen in children's eyes
My heart breaks deep inside
The hurt and pain I cannot hide
